It's always something. The 3 somethings here each include 5 of our looping miniatures.
A characteristic maintained in each is 2 shorter, simple loops, but of contrasting length, and around which circles a larger loop or loops.
The larger loops do their best to shape the musical space and every loop involved is to be evenly spaced within itself, as a rule.
And we have what is a simple loop, a simple loop is comprised of single notes, not of musical phrases as are the larger loops here.
Hear the loops individually, hear them exist together, and back.

Hello. Here is Spring Loops. There are five tracks each with three adventures into loop harmony.
Here are some statistics from Spring Loops...

The units are beats of music. X Y Z represent the loops of differing length. X Y and Z are combined and it is the LCM, the least common multiple, that represents the entire cycle length of the overall looping adventure.
All we should take from this is the fact that we are combining loops of different lengths in a musical way. And it will be increasingly more interesting as we use loop lengths that are not just simple factors of each other.
Birds In The Air Too
This serves as the bonus track to Spring Loops. It includes several improvised loop harmony events that pay no particular attention to rhythmical exactness. The rhythm is loose. The events are faded in and out within this 19 minute track. But most importantly we recorded along with the birds in our backyard. Please enjoy. Thanks for your time.

Music zings, it zooms, it zaps, and it claps. We would like to thank all synthesizer makers past and present. These are their sounds we are choosing and sometimes adjusting.
Music Zings is continuing your introduction to bowlingovalmusic. More loops of differing length repeating over each other creating that certain kaleidoscopic space we hope to create right here at the beginning of the 21st century. Perhaps it's a result of a more globally minded people. Or perhaps it's just our own appreciation here at bowlingovalmusic for all things round.

| | Music Things
Harmoniously looping polymetric miniatures.
Minimalism can be difficult to define. Musically speaking we believe the most fundamental aspect to be repetition. This is in conflict with the notion of minimalism being ambient with not much happening.
We have been interested since the start in a music that removes the sense of the barline. Just as planets orbit at different rates so do our loops. It is described in musical terms as being polymetric.
Most importantly the loops need to be loop-like, rising falling and returning. Secondly and as well as we can define it, the loops are to be combined in a musical way. We can call it loop harmony.
Loop harmony allows for a time aspect to harmony which gets away from the now standard vertical approach. We create the music and then we can look at the math of it. Sometimes these repeating loops can take surprisingly long to complete a single cycle in their harmony. For example if we are using three loops of differing length say, 3 and 5 and 7 units of time, this musical thing or event will not actually repeat until the passing of 105 units of time.
Just like a baby's mobile or the characteristics of a flower or perhaps certain kaleidoscopes, we gain different perspectives as we circle around the object or the object itself circles.
In Music Things we created our looping counterpoint then we chose to record a few different sounds for each voice (loop). We then spent a substantial amount of time mixing them together, giving us another part to the process. The mixing of the different voices was an effort to keep the music interesting for the listener as it creates an evolving event.
But in essence, each combined group of loops creates a static musical truth that can be repeated and repeated and repeated. Music Things is seven tracks with each track containing two looping events.
